In the wake of a grueling battle against the Sentinels, the team rushes a wounded Havok to the mysterious Dr. Karl Lykos for emergency treatment. Little do they know, Lykos is a literal energy vampire who inadvertently transforms into the prehistoric menace known as Sauron after siphoning Alex Summers' potent mutant bio-energy. As the winged terror takes to the New York skies, a reckless Angel flies off to confront the beast alone, only to fall victim to the villain’s powerful hypnotic gaze.
