As the original team reunites with the X-Men, a new iteration of X-Factor emerges as a government-sponsored mutant response unit under the oversight of Val Cooper. Havok is reluctantly recruited in Genosha to lead an eclectic group featuring Polaris, Wolfsbane, Multiple Man, and the comedic Guido. Meanwhile, Quicksilver arrives in Washington D.C. seeking aid for his failing powers, just as the team’s new headquarters is rocked by a sudden and violent assassination attempt.
