Seeking answers after a solo mission, Logan ventures into the prehistoric Savage Land where he is heralded as a child of the gods by the primitive Tribe of Fire. After besting their chieftain, Gahck, in combat and taking her as his mate, the Canadian mutant finds a brief, simple peace hunting great beasts alongside the natives. This tranquility is shattered when he discovers a predatory tyrannosaurus rex is actually a cyborg, leading him to a hidden laboratory and a face-to-face confrontation with the ancient mutant tyrant Apocalypse. Amidst the high-tech ruins of a prehistoric volcano, Wolverine must destroy a robotic double and dismantle a nefarious plot to transform the peaceful tribespeople into cybernetic assassins.
