In the aftermath of a narrow escape from the liquid-metal T-1000 at a shopping mall, a young John Connor realizes his new T-800 guardian is programmed to follow his every command. This unlikely duo sets out on a high-stakes mission to Pescadero State Hospital to rescue John's mother, Sarah Connor, before the shapeshifting assassin can reach her. As Sarah orchestrates a desperate and violent breakout of her own, she is forced to confront her worst nightmare: coming face-to-face with the same model of machine that once tried to kill her. Together, they must outrun a relentless enemy that can mimic anyone, all while grappling with the heavy burden of a future nuclear Armageddon they are destined to prevent.
