Frank Hoag was a twenty-year veteran of the NYPD whose life ended in a hail of bullets and a chemical explosion after he refused a mob order to kill a fellow officer. Tossed into the sewers to rot, the cocktail of toxic waste and experimental regenerative chemicals transformed him into Sludge, a massive, shambling creature of living ooze. Now, he navigates a gritty underworld, struggling with a fractured mind and the ability to melt flesh with a single touch. As he punishes the violent street gangs that cross his path, the former detective seeks a way to reclaim his lost humanity or finally find the peace of death.
