Acting as a living cosmic bomb to thwart the plans of the Goddess, the Silver Surfer detonates against the moon of Paradise Omega, only to awaken in a desolate monorail station on Zenn-La. In this liminal space between life and death, he is greeted by the spirits of his long-deceased parents, who offer him the choice to move on into the afterlife or return to the land of the living. While his mother encourages peace, his father's initial bitterness gives way to a final reconciliation, allowing Norrin to forgive the past and reclaim his destiny. Ultimately, the Surfer rejects the "no exit" door of death, plummeting back into reality to face the consequences of the Infinity Crusade.
