The cosmic villain, the Obliterator, escapes a populated planet with newfound weapons and sets his sights on Zenn-La. Racing to answer Shalla-Bal's desperate plea for help, the Silver Surfer must destroy two attacking Kree vessels just to reach his homeworld. Once there, the Surfer cleverly uses the Obliterator's own cosmic hierarchy against him, pointing out that destroying Zenn-La would elevate the Surfer to the status of an Elder, an outcome the Obliterator absolutely cannot accept. Forced to change his plan, the enraged Obliterator realizes he must first eliminate the Silver Surfer before proceeding with his conquest.
