After Vampirella drinks Shadowhawk's blood, both heroes are struck by illness, but the experience reveals Shadowhawk's true nature to Vampirella. While she recovers, Shadowhawk succumbs to the mysterious reaction and is reborn as a vampire. Meanwhile, a villain named Kaul attempts to manipulate the newly vampiric Shadowhawk into fighting Vampirella, but his efforts fail as the two instead choose to unite against him.
