In this introductory issue, a young man named Lucien Gates finds his life as a lifeguard forever changed when he is struck by a beam from an experimental solar cannon. This freak accident transforms his body into living light, granting him incredible speed and the ability to project energy but also leaving him unable to wear normal clothes without them incinerating. As he struggles to master his volatile new powers and navigate the awkwardness of his condition, he must protect his home from other mutated creatures created by the same blast. Amidst the chaos, Lucien tries to maintain his relationships and his sanity while a shadowy new threat begins to emerge on the horizon.
