Vanth and Syzygy barely survive a devastating nuclear holocaust, leaving millions dead and Vanth consumed by survivor's guilt. This tragedy strengthens their resolve to maintain a military balance between Monarchy and Instrumentality, aiming to advance their rebellion. They find themselves recruited as royal bodyguards, tasked with stopping a super-assassin sent by the Instrumentality to eliminate the Monarch. In this perilous mission, Oedi gets a chance to prove his worth.
