A family outing turns dangerous when the Powells are attacked by a Bazin hitman at a museum. As Darkhawk intervenes to protect his loved ones, the conflict escalates with the sudden appearance of Portal, a new Native American mutant capable of opening multiversal rifts. In the ensuing struggle, Darkhawk manages to halt the assassin and blast Portal into unconsciousness, narrowly avoiding catastrophe. This initial encounter marks the debut of a formidable foe who can bridge realities, posing a major threat to the hero and his city.
