A young esper named Mark Traynor begins helping S.T.A.R. Labs and soon uncovers Superman's closely guarded secret identity. Meanwhile, the Man of Steel is in the vicinity when a team of armored crooks attempts a high-tech bank robbery, forcing him to intervene. This issue also marks a pre-Crisis encounter where Lex Luthor's political aspirations are interrupted by an entity known as the Adversary, leading to a clash with Superman.
